Philips - An Electronic Brand from Dutch

Philips is an electronic brand from Dutch. It is among the largest electronic companies. It was founded in the year 1891 in Netherlands by Gerard Philips. It has its set up in Amsterdam. Philips has a wide range of products such as consumers’ electronics, lightning, domestic appliances, and medical systems. Philips was formed in many sections. Philips first productions were electric technical equipment and light bulbs. Its foremost factory has now become a museum that is dedicated to light sculpture. In the year 1920, Philips started manufacturing products such as vacuum tubes commonly known as ‘valves’. Later after a few years an electric razor was produced.

Philips had become very famous after launching the Stirling engine. Later Philips launched many more new products that attracted a lot of consumers. They launched the ‘audio cassette tape’, stenographers, portable radio, cassettes were introduced for answering machines, mass storage machine for personal computers, later mini and micro cassettes were introduced. In 1972, video recorder was launched. There was huge competition between Sony and Philips.

Philips was known as a ‘chip maker’. Philips was among the world’s top twenty for the sales of the semiconductors. Philips has completed one hundred and fifteen years. Philip’s first slogan was “let’s make things better” which was dropped in the year 2004 and the slogan “sense and simplicity” was adopted. In the year 2007 Philips had merger with Respironics. Philips sells a huge range of household appliances. Philips also has a huge worldwide presence in countries like Australia, Brazil, Mexico, china, India, United Kingdom, Poland and United States.

The ‘consumers electronic products’ manufactured by them are the Philishave (a two headed shaver), laser disc player, compact disc, compact cassette, video system 2000( it was a huge failure), audio CD, Senseo coffee maker, Philips intimate massager and Blu-ray disc along with Sony etc.
