The General Electric Company is one of the largest US business conglomerates. Headquartered in Fairfield, Connecticut, USA they serve customers in more than 100 countries and employ more than 327,000 people worldwide. The company formed in the year 1892 as result of merger between Edison General Electric and Thompson-Houston Company.
GE as market leaders offers wide range of product and services starting from aviation to power generation, finance and business services to water processing, oil and gas to healthcare and entertainment services.
They believe in leadership, teamwork and innovation. This tradition dates back from Thomas Edison’s first electric bulb to the first X-ray machines. In the year 1978, they achieved a milestone of becoming first organization to hold 50,000 patents. They currently rank no. 4 position on Business Week’s list of “Most innovative companies”.
GE is known for the culture of management and learning. They invest about $1 billion annually on training and education.
GE family contributed more than $200 million and over 1 million hours on community and relief initiatives worldwide. Recently, they contributed $1.4 million to the Red Cross Society of China and over half a million dollars worth of equipment and services for ongoing emergency relief efforts. GE is also the Worldwide Partner of the Beijing Olympic Games.
