Violence all that is dreary and repels, is not power, but the absence of power, violence is the last refuge of incompetent. Every day 2 out of 10 women become victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a social sin and women should be protected from all kinds of violence. Domestic violence should be eradicated otherwise it will effect great percentage of women. Need of the day is to raise this issue more prominently on international level in order to end violence against women. Global efforts will be fruitful to increase awareness about this social taboo and protect women from domestic violence.
UN is the best platform to end violence against women. UN is already working on this issue to protect women from domestic violence, it has dedicated it many functions and units to work on this agenda and with the help of local government and multinationals UN have done and doing a lot. Many NGO at local and international level are funded by UN to end violence against women. Multinational companies also fund different NGO which are working on this issue. World has become a global village, globalization has played a vital role in resolution of different issues. One of such issue is domestic violence, before globalization domestic violence was a national issue but now it has international appeal. Multinational companies and NGO become more concern to end violence against women after globalization. NIKE, AVON and some other companies has proven themselves philanthropic by funding for social issues. AVON is company for women, AVON’s target market is women and it provides diverse product line in women accessories. AVON realizes its social responsibility for women and proves itself by funding NGO for women issues. This time AVON has taken a step further, to End violence against women, on 25th January 2011, AVON launched 125th anniversary celebration at Atlanta, AVON’s Global Brand Ambassador, famous actress Reese Witherspoon and CEO Andrea Jung announced “AVON Believe World Tour” in 16 cities i.e. Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, London, Istanbul, New York, Chicago, Mexico City, Warsaw, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Manila, Shanghai, New Delhi and Johannesburg, 125000 AVON’s representatives will visit these cities and will work to end violence against women with the help of local government and NGO.
